Diswasher tablets

Hi,
Not sure if this is in right thread.
We are in process of finishing off our new kitchen (I have been waiting 10 yrs) and have now got a dishwasher.
I was just wondering what people have found the best to use. I do not intend to use it every day :rotfl: and obviously the various manufacturers of tablets etc always say use a full tablet.
Has anyone made their own 'gunk' that is effective but doesn't harm the machine.
Thanks

we use either the ASDA or lidl ones and I never use a full tablet - end up with half of it left in the machine cos I do everything on a quick wash cos I rinse plates off before they go in.

it goes on every other day with 2 of us - but we both have all 3 meals at home. i buy tabs with rinse aid & add water to the rinse aid compartment.

Which? recommend the basic Tesco or Lidl ones, they also recommend still adding salt even if you use an all-in-one tablet. Both seem good to me

  • I use half a Lidl tablet most of the time and it works really well. I put vinegar in the rinse aid bit.:D

I just use dishwasher powder as the tablets are far more expensive - I only put the dishwasher on when it is absolutely chock full, about every two to three days and a 2kg Carton of Powder lasts me about a year.

  • I use the Lidl ones, a half for a not very dirty load or a full tablet if the pots are very dirty/greasy/dried on. Every few months Lidl have their dishwasher tabs on offer so I stock up on several boxes.

I can recommend Lidl's. I use the basic ones plus their salt and rinse-aid.

We use Asda's own, rinsing plates before washing to get most of the stuck on stuff off. Have just bought Sainsbury's own to try as I was in there rather than Asda. Dishwashers are the best invention since washing machines :j

  • I use the powder. I've got a mini dishwasher, about half size to normal, and the instructions said not to use the tablets as they were designed for full size machines. But the powder is loads cheaper anyway.

I usually get bottles of Finish powder from the 99p shop.
