buying a repossesion flat. how to reconnect the electricity

i am hoping to exchange in a fortnight and complete a week after that. The flat i am buying has had the electricity disconnected.

How and when do i go about reconnecting it? Is it something the management agency do ? Or is the electricity company?

And what company do i contact, i was on moneysupermarket.com and found eon were the cheapest in my area, do i contact them? Or is there a dedicated supplier i should contact?

thanks

Do you know who the supply was with? You should be able to find out using the meter number. You may need to switch back on with them and then switch.

That's what we had to do anyway with a repossession property we bought earlier this year.
  • If you switch back with them are you locked in a for a while? How long did it take you to get reconnected? Same day or week?
Can you arrange for it before you complete or do you have to wait till you have completed first?

Sorry for all the questions its my first flat and i'm a little nervous about it.

Yes, but not before you Exchange! Once you have an agreed Completion date (ie following Exchange) you KNOW you'll need the new service from xyz date. Ring them and they'll answer all these questions and talk you through the process.....
