Atlantic Electric & Gas

I get electricity from Ecotricity (doing me bit and all that), but I get gas from Atlantic.

I've had a couple of niggles last year - they didn't send me a bill since last summer and increased my direct debits without telling me as a result - but I had my latest bill this morning. Instead of owing them the £55 they reckoned I did by the end of the billing period where they didn't manage to send me a bill, not only have I paid this, they owe me £63.

The letter says they will carry my £63 forward onto the next bill!

So, I phoned and said I would far rather they gave it back to me. So they have.

I'm happy. Still going to check to see if there is a cheaper deal with a reputable company (ie, not NPower or British Gas - never again with BG - they demanded £55 per month from me when I was 21 because they had insisted that £5 per month was enough for the previous 2 years - we starved throughout 1994 as a result and then refused to refund the £200 credit I built up).

But it's nice to speak to a human on the phone, especially one who can do something useful.

Seems that "the vision that was planted in my brain still remains " and applies to BG
  • It does indeed with them. Never, ever, ever, ever again - I was delighted when it became possible to change suppliers.

    Could someone help me please.

I'm currently with 'Atlantic' (Online, Duel Fuel, Monthly Direct Debit) but have noticed other companies within the 'Scottish' group (i.e. 'Southern') offer the 'Go Direct' tariff which works out cheaper (even with the 13th month free) from what I can see.

Does anyone know why Atlantic don't offer this, along with the rest of the group, or might it be in the pipeline?

There is a commitment for the best part of one year, but the golden handshake pretty much covers a cancellation scenario.
