Re argos debt

I previously posted this message about a week ago and thought I would give an update on how I got on:
Hope someone can help. My husband received a phone call from a company called Cabot about an argos credit card debt from 2001. They said they bought the debt over in 2006. My husband told them he didnt have an argos card and asked for info to be sent out to him, but they said no he would have to post them his signature, yeah like that will happen when we dont know who they are or what it is about. Any help or advice on this would be appreciated. Sorry if I have posted this on wrong forum new to this.
The upshot is I received lots of help and letter templates from other lovely forum members and today received a letter from Cabot Financial which says:
We acknowledge that your account is statue barred and so governed by the Limitation Act 1980. Under the OFT guidelines it is accepted that legally the debt still exists but that the collections of these debts must in no way be contrary to section 40 (1) of the Administration of Justice Act 1970.
Whilst we don't consider our actions to have breached any law or regulatory guideline, your account has been withdrawn from our regular collections process.
We are so happy with this outcome after receiving horrible phone calls from this company about a debt we didnt know exsisted, and who wanted my husband to send his signature in to them. If it wasn't for the advice and help I got here I would still be tryng to deal with this, so a huge thank you to all.
