park resorts cancelled holiday advice please

hi all

i am after some advice please

a friend had booked one of the sun promotional holidays for october half term

she had the conformation through in june

unfortunaly her little one was taken very ill and has been in and out of hospital for the last few months

today she has received a letter through from park resorts dated 30th sep saying her holiday had been cancelled and if she wanted her holiday reinstated she would have to pay an £18 admin fee

she phoned them up and explained the situiation and asked why she had not been sent a reminder or if they do send reminders

they said they sent her conformation in june and she should have contacted them
they also said her holiday had now been sold and there was no other avalibility other than a 3nt weekend break the same weekend but she would have to pay an upgrade of £30 but she would not have to pay the £18

they also offered her another 4nt break october half term at another park for the £18 admin fee

she then phoned park resorts head office who gave her the admin offices email address and said send them an email but she would not get a reply untill monday and to put immediate reply needed please as only 3 people work in the office. she has done this

she has also been on park resorts t&c and can not find anything regarding them cancelling like this

dose any one know if this is right or if there is anything she can do regarding the situiation please, in hindsight like she said if she had only phoned them before but it was the last thing on her mind and like i said to her i thought they would have sent her a reminder as this year i stayed at butlins mindhead and i had a reminder through for payment but maby different park operate different

    You have not stated why the holiday was cancelled - is it because she did not pay on time? If so, they are entitled to do this, as she was in breach of contract.
    Gone ... or have I?

    she did have £52 left to pay for entertainment passes/linen and service charge she had her conformation through in june
    it probably is that she did not pay on time
    but shes just a bit shocked that she did not get a reminder before they cancelled

    Pretty sure they dont send reminders on the Sun holidays, it will say this somewhere on the invoice you got.

    We have never got reminders with Sun holidays and been on a few over the years
