New to forums, just got diagnosed with fibromyalgia and me, wondered what I am able to claim, hope someone can help!!

    Hiya

I have had fibromyalgia for 3 years (diagnosed) and many undiagnosed. I applied for DLA last year and was refused, i appealed and was refused again so i asked for it to go to tribunal. I have now been given lowest care componant but no mobility but thats because when i had my tribunal (last week) they wanted to know how i was back in february!! They didnt have any regard for how i am now (much worse) but i have been informed that i can apply for "change in circumstances" and should get at least the lowest mobility and possibly middle care rate

    BUT

i will say, it for me has been a horrendous experience, especially the tribunal and its taken ALOT out of me so if you are applying i would say get some help, either from citizens advice or welfare rights and take someone with you if it gets as far as a tribunal as i pretty much sobbed my way through it.

If your out of work then also make sure you have switched to employment support allowence, it doesnt alter the money you get (i dont think) but i think it works the same way incapacity does where it covers your national ins contributions (tho i couldnt be sure)

    Good luck with it all
