Hi all
I was wondering wether anybody has been sucesfull in reinstating suspended credit card accounts.
I was able to reinstate my suspended capital one classic card back in feb 2008 and they reinstated my £1100 credit limit and then upped my limit to £1700 on my 4th statment. I did this by making a payment of £250 upfront to help clear some of my outstanding balance of around £800.
I am looking to try and get my barclaycard reinstated as this was a 6.9% apr fixed for life card.
Does anyone have any advice on how to go about this and are there any template letters available to send to them to consider my request.
I have paid back over £1400 over the last year and there is only £250 outstanding. I have a payment arrangement of £6.00 a month at the moment.
Many thanks:o

If you haven't made every repayment on time they would almost certainly ditch the 6.9% LOB deal.0 -

The card is the Barclaycard Simplicity.
It has a fixed rate for purchases and balance transfers of 6.9% For the life of the card. (See on there website)
Its not a promotional rate.
I contacted barclaycard back in 2007 to freeze the account cos i lost my job and had to make token payments of £6.00 per month. After 6 mths i got a new job and was paying between £100 and £200 a month to pay the account even though i only had to pay £6.00 .0 -

I had a look at that site at
http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/personal-home/index.html
and was unable to locate any T & Cs specific to the Simplicity card. However, the banner to link toi the info about the card refers to
"6.8% APR typical (variable)". I reckon it would be worth you contacting them to discuss it but bear in mind that when a rate is described as "typical", they only have to give that rate to 66% of accepted applicants. I suppose they could argue that as you needed the account frozen at some point, this could make you a higher risk and therefore not qualify for the "typical" rate. No harm asking them though. They worst they can do is say no.0 -
Just an update,
I contacted Barclaycard by phone.(got through to india i think)
Was told that once i pay the outstanding balance of £250.00 i can have a new card.
I am a little bit sceptical about it though.
Q. Does anyone have a UK Call Centre Tel Number which to call them again to clarify what i was told?0 -
They may very well send you out a new card but I'm pretty confident they will increase your rate whilst you're at it.
As I replied to the other post of yours my OH's Halifax APR was increased to 22.9% after a spat of arrears several years ago but they reduced it to 17.9% after six months of clean running and would probably have reduced it further if he'd left the account open.
You may have a high APR to start off with but run the account well for at least six months and then ask to close the account. They may offer a decrease to retain youCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

just an update, Got my latest statment and they have upped the rate from 3.9 to 12.9% and the outstanding balance is only £250. I intend to pay this balance of in full at the end of the month as was told they would look into it once cleared. I will update if they reinstate account.0

I have now settled the balance in full but am now getting nowhere with the indian call centre. I keep getting transfered backward and forward.
Does anyone have a number for a UK call centre or any advice to proceed.0
