Fixed penalty notice

Hi there
I am not really sure where I stand on this so was hoping someone could give me a bit of advice before I do anything.
Basically I drive a motorcycle and a scooter. Currently my motorcycle is SORN and parked on the path next to my flat (not on the road) chained up to a lamppost. I recieved a fixed penalty notice under section 14 - not dislaying a tax disc.
Its not parked on the road, its registered as SORN, its covered, its insured. There is nowhere else I can park it, I'm trying to save up to get it fixed so I can get an MOT and thus tax it. Where do I stand with this?

If its on the path then its on a public highway, you will have to pay or try explaining your reasons to a magistrate.
SORN has to be off public highway ie garage or driveway etc paths and verges are parts of the highway. Lesson learnt !You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0
