What Do The Boots Kodak Machines Not Read My Memory Card?

I bought a 512mb SD memory card from my memory. The card is great except whenever I take it into the Kodak machines in Boots its doesnt read it - it keeps saying no media advice inserted. The guy on the counter at Boots tried for me to. I have to have my pics put onto CD by Boots then get my prints from the CD. I dont print off that many(I've got an old computer which just freezes when I try to do this at home so thats out the question). I also have a SanDisk 16mb memory card and have no problem with that. Trouble is when I get my prints onto a CD using the 16mb I only get about 25 prints whereas I can get almost 100 put on a CD using the bigger memory card so its cheaper. Is it me ??

Edit: Sorry that should be Why Do the Boots etc.......
