Who did the Divorce - were you divorced before you embarked on Ancillary Relief? All my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]0

Hi
The original solicitor did the divorce. I re-married not knowing anything about ancillary relief. I was told that because I had re-married I was not able to make an application for ancillary relief. My new solicitor told me this.0 -

I agree with jazzy, that is just rubbish.
Hopefully it won't come to that anyway as I would be very surprised if her complaint is not upheld and the Law Society complaints procedure has the power to make an award in an amount which I estimate would cover the losses here.
The only barrier that I can see to using one solicitor to sue another is the cost. I will accept that it is unlikely solicitors will be unwilling to sue another firm of solicitors local to them as they have to maintain a working relationship on a daily basis and it would be difficult to do this in those circumstances. The OP would therefore need to go further afield to find a firm to do the work.1 -
i bet she will have to shop around for a solicitor ...to do it ,rubbish? i think not, when she finds one please post and prove me wrong0

I have not disputed she will have to shop around. Strange how the opinions on these boards are that solicitors like confrontation and raking in money and yet when presented with a situation guaranteeing just that you think that no-one will touch it.
Cost is going to be the main issue on which I see the OP failing if the Law Society route does not bring a satisfactory outcome. Money will have to be paid up front for the initial advice and work. If a solicitor thinks the OP is not going to be able to afford it, they will not take it on. There will always be a firm willing to take on this sort of work, but not local to the firm being sued.
Solicitors report other firms to the Law Society and sue them themselves. Why do you think they would not be willing to do the same for a client where they at least will be making a profit out of doing so.0 -
a police officer hates confrontaion with one of his own a solicitor the same and so do doctors etc why do you think it takes years to sue a hospital they stick together and admit nothing and drag it out for years , as for solicitors raking in moneyone example i was taking a individule to court a few letters in my solicitor contacted me and said ive sent this out etc he said there was nothing to worry about with reguards time etc as the person i had the dispute with used them and as i had been with them for 8 years and him for 3 they would keep me as a client i won becouse by the time they had told him the letter and info they gave him would not stand as they cant represent both sides he lossed and couldnt do a thing due to the time scale0
