Oh I see well these things happen glad it was sorted out for you

It didn't come via Royal Mail, it was from a courier which is why they were so helpful, I called on Wednesday and they told me it was with the courier, so really it was a problem with the courier they use, despite that Lakeland sorted it!

I really like Lakeland and how their staff are trained. When a cashier sees a queue of even only one person, she rings a bell, and all floor staff appear to serve the customer - sometimes 4 or 5 members of staff will appear at once. And even then sometimes two of them will stay - one to scan and the other to pack.

Contrast that to dross organisations like WHSmith where there can be a queue 20 deep and they think that the members of staff stocking the store are far too important to take money off paying customers.

Lakeland are one of a few places where I'm willing to pay a little bit extra because their customer service is second to none.

I bought one of their Bakingenius roasting tins and it was brilliant at first but after a few months use the food has started to stick. I sent them an email letting them know, they replied the same day offering a replacement or refund! I was a bit wary about getting a replacement incase the same thing happened so went for the refund.

Next day I got an email saying the money had been put back on my debit card. They also said I didn't need to return the roasting tin, just to put it in the bin.

I must confess I haven't chucked it out, I still use it lined with foil. :o

Agree with this on both points. I bought a large hard back book from WH Smith this week, and even though it was clear that I had only my handbag with me, had to ask for a carrier bag! Compare that to Lakeland, where you are automatically asked if you need a bag, even for the smallest of items.

There's a Lakeland near me, it's quite small but has a seating area with headphones & glass walls and they employ a person to wait at the entrance to say 'Hello' when you go in. :D

That is impressive but they didn't deliver them when they were supposed to and they clearly messed up by saying a calling card had been left.

Bit harsh isn't that????? I don't suppose Lakeland employ a fleet of delivery drivers, but use Royal Mail or a courier service, therefore they will be reporting what they have been told. They've obviously done their very best to rectify a shortfall in the total package. Do you accept full responsibility for mistakes made by anyone you employ for onward service?

Fair point... but I would point out that when I worked in Woolies shelf-filling, I wasn't trained to operate the tills. Wouldn't have known where to start, even if I was allowed to.

..... and where is Woolworths now?:D

Seriously, some supermarkets appear not to realise they have not earned any money until the cash is in the till and the customer is walking out. A number of times I have had to abandon my shopping and walk out because of a very long wait at the till point, with no sign of others about to be opened.

At the WHSmith I use most often at Bluewater I've seen 99% of the staff on the tills, so the majority of them stacking shelves could easily deploy themselves to serve customers. What's so important about stacking already full shelves with more tat when there are customers waiting to pay? If a customer wants to pay, you grab their money asap! I've seen plenty of people pick something up, look at the queue, and walk out the store again.

One time I asked the manageress why she didn't get open a till herself instead of standing there staring at everyone working. She didn't even talk to me and walked off.
