Another Retail Park Charge

Hi All,

My wife parked in a small reatial car park in Havant (Hampshire) and was unaware of the two hour waiting time limit so she exceeded it by about an hour. A few weeks later she recieved a Parking Charge notice through the post asking for £50 to be paid within 14 days otherwiswe we would have to pay £110 within 28 days. The Company concerened is Parking Eye.

Having read Martin's article in the NOTW I decided to ignore it and see what happened. The first thing was I received a picture of the car entering and leaving the car park on the day i question. I was sent this three days before the £50 was due and again I ignored it. I then received a letter from a Company called CCS Collect saying that Parking Eye had passed the 'outstanding debt' to them and threatening me with legal action if I didn't pay. This has now freaked out my wife and she wants me to pay.

Im pretty sure that I will ignore them but would like some advice on the following:-

Has anyone had any dealings with Parking Eye/CCS Collections and do they go to court?

Is it strange/coincidence that the two companies have the same address and the same bank details appear on the Giro Credit Slip attached to the letter? If the debt has been passed to another Company then why the same details?

I have read the previuos cases and apologise for posting something else on the subject but any advice on this particular case would give me peace of mind.

Thanks in advance

They are probably all based in the same tatty office above a chip-shop somewhere . There will be three desks - the "parking company", the "debt collectors" and the "legal department".

But you are correct, just ignore.

Of course it is understanable to be worried about this correspondence.Over the years PPC's have refined their letters to have the maximum impact and intimidation.

Parking Eye are one of those that don't 'do' court so ignoring is a fairly safe option.

Yep, usual 3 letters and then give up and pass it to 'another name that sounds terribly official' crews

Continue to ignore, and all will be well.
  • Thanks Guys. Will let you know if I hear anything else from them. I suspect I won't tho!!
