Delivery time - what is too early?

We had some goods from Wickes which we were advised would be with us at 8.00 but turned up at 6.30 when we were still asleep.
Does anyone know if there is a law stating how early is too early for this kind of thing?

Don't know if there is a law against it but that is way way too early in my book. Completely out of order. Most deliveries seem to be between 8am and 6pm. Large deliveries normally telephone a day or two in advance to check access, that someone will be in etc. It's one way of ensuring that people are at home for a delivery though!
Even at 8am it's hit or miss whether we will be in a decent state to open the door in the house!0 -
I don't think there is any law about this. I've had a delivery of garden furniture come from up north that arrived at 7am & a delivery just before Christmas one year that arrived at 10pm.
What you do need to take into consideration is that the delivery driver may have driven during the night from 100's of miles away & just happened to make the journey in a faster time than anticipated for some reason.
Better it arrived early than hanging around all day for something that doesn't arrive, which happens all to often. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Our drivers are not supposed to knock on the doors until 7am. Most people should be starting to wake up by that time. 6.30am is a bit too early but just would be pleased that it turned up.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0

Doesn't it come under the Human Rights Act !0

Yes I would be awake but probably on my way to the shower. I wouldn't be best pleased having to take delivery in my PJs! I think 8am is the earliest time any delivery should take place unless otherwise arranged.0

Any time before lunch ... is generally too early;)
Have had several, recently, before 0700hrs .. which is OKish if you only have to sign (and the driver gives you the pen the right way round!). But I really object if I have to go out to help (what are PJs??:o ).
I definitely don't do mornings:sad:If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
6:30 is def to early IMO, I'd be furious! Another half hour makes the world of difference as I wouldn't be too upset if I had a delivery from about 7am - especially if I knew something was on it's way. If it was something I was looking forward to receiving I'd probably even be thrilled to get it, plus it then leaves you free to use the rest of the day. Don't get me wrong - I'm no early bird ..... but I LOVE parcels ;-)

Thanks for your replies guys
PJ's are PaJama's
We have a small dispute with Wickes over damaged parts that has gone on for over 3 weeeks with them sending us wrong bits so we have added the early delivery time to our complaint.
On the whole the units are quite good but their customer service is terrible :mad:0 -
Can't win with some people. Early I agree but it is not every day is it? I used to deliver early and had to rise at 5 am every day. Got loads of moans and insults for getting idle sods out of bed but they should be grateful they didn't have to wait in all day as someone has already stated. Do people still wear pajamas?Don't buy the Sun.0

I was up at 5.30 this AM but not long ago 6 would have been way earlier than I'd have liked (I might have only just got in...!).
But I'd much rather be dragged out of bed, grumpy and dishevelled, than wait in for hours for a delivery. Or worse take a day off work and get up early "just in case" only for them to turn up at 1500...0
