Unsafe gas/boiler
Hi, bit of a long story but need advice.
When i moved in 4 weeks ago there was a certificate stating the gas/boiler were working fine. I couldnt get hot water working so called them out to look at it, this took 4 weeks, they came out, put it on and left, i smelt gas and switched it off and told them and said i dont feel its working right, another 2 weeks later my housing officer sent an emergency gasman out, he told me the system is highly dangerous, leaking high levels of carbon monoxide and disconnected the supply and served a health and safety notice stating not to be used etc.
Now, why did the original 2 workers not detect a problem yet the 3rd could straight away?
He said we were lucky to be alive!
Should i seek legal advice? Where do i go from here?
Im frightened now of something bad happening and affraid to let them in to repair it as they didnt do the job properly in the first place...
Any advice welcome!
Thanks!

Hi slmapg, welcome to MSE
By your post I assume you are in council type housing and not private renting?
Legal advice not required, why would you want it? What are you hoping to achieve?
If council then it's up to the council to fix it, or your landlord if not council rented
At some stage you are going to have to let someone in to fix it, you could buy a carbon monoxide detector to set your mind at ease when fixed, always a good idea to have one in any caseEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
