its cracked ????

Hi,
can any one give me some advice!! Brought my Dell Laptop at the end of january, used it last night no problems, opened it up this morning to find what looks like a crack on my screen !!!!

its comming down from the top of the screen about 3or4 inches in what could of caused this to happen its not been moved for weeks,It as never been dropped or knocked, Do i get on to dell will it be covered?? realy dont no what to do my comp seams to be ok other wise.

    Highly unlikely this would happen without some sort of impact.

    My screen broke a couple of years ago whilst carrying. There were a few too many papers in the bag and the prssure cracked the screen. It doesn't take that much. Are you sure, no one could have placed something on top of it?

    Your best bet would probably be house insurance if it's covered. I doubt Dell would entertain that it cracked whilst just sitting there. That is unless you can get an professional inspection to show that this is the case.

    Just tell Dell that it cracked whilst you were using it, thing is its still under warranty so why not use it I mean the have thousands of screens just lying around in stock.

    There are some small screws that are just sat behind the screen one of them may have been put in at and angle when the PC was fabricated so that may be the cause but dont claim on your house insurance as that will only affect your premiums so blame Dell, but be nice about it though.

    I think my friend's laptop is a dell, she stood on it and still managed to get it repaired under warrenty, no questions asked :P
