Oh believe me, I would like to pay it off the debt - but that then leaves me a lot of money to find by the end of the year to cover his skiing. Which would mean that if I pay the lump off the debt now, then all the MSE money I make from here until the end of the year would have to go to the ski pot, so the total would come down initially but would then stay there for a bit!
So swings and roundabouts really, but either way, it is more than I expected - I thought about £850, so I'm more than happy!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Fantastic result!
I thought you'd have to wait months for the refund. Your council must be a lot more efficient than ours.
Or is it the hypno power of persuasion?I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -
no persuasion needed - I just logged into online banking and there it was.....refunded to the same account that makes my normal monthly CT payment!
I was expecting a cheque, and thought that because of the postal problems it would take a while, so didn't bother chasing anything up, so it was a nice surprise to have it so easily.
I have to say, that the whole process was amazingly easy - I just wrote one letter, never needed to follow it up, or chase it in any way. Fabulous service from the Valuations office and our local council :T:T:T
Right, best get showered and off to work - I called the newsagent and cancelled DS paper round for today - it is half term so there will be plenty of other kids happy for the extra £2 or whatever it is. DS does more than his share of covering sickness and holidays, so someone else will be happy to cover him.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Wow Hypno, thats a fantastic amount to receive back :T :T Is there interest added onto it too?Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000
Mortgage Overpayments Pot £10790 -
No interest - according to the appropriate board on MSE, claiming the interest on it is quite difficult, and to be honest, I don't need the stress of the fight - I got back more than I expected, and my monthly amount is reducing nicely so I will be content with that
Just bank charges, and my ongoing accident claim to go  Both of which are taking forever, and have already had a fair bit of my energy!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. I won on BingoBritain this morning - £16.66 :j... all whilst I wasn't sitting at the computer (must try that in future!)
Two weeks worth of groceries once you take off the £5 deposit. I'm delighted.
In other news - Amazon have today confirmed £61.90 is on it's way to my account. £70 will also be on its way from MusicMagpie for some of my CDs. This morning I've checked out the mysupermarket website and checked where to buy the cheapest tinned tomatos (Tesco 3 for £1, not the value ones which are 39p... well, I thought that might be useful to someone else) and cotton wool pads from tesco and eye make up remover from Boots (using vouchers from online survey). Not bad for day one of unemployment. I need nothing else now except work clothes decent enough for an interview and a pair of shoes
Today is not a day of bingo - not during office hours anyway! Today is a day of looking for work and doing some studies too. There's a course I want to do tomorrow which could be a great networking event so hope they'll let me attend at this late stage. Have a good day everyone0
