PPI reclaim from Lloyds TSB

Options
Hello Everyone,

I need some advice regarding PPI mis-sold to me by Lloyds TSB. I had taken a personal loan from Lloyds TSB in June 2007. I was new to UK and it was the first time I was taking a loan here. I was told that PPI comes as part of loans here. After about a month I discovered that that was not the case. I called up the branch and asked them to cancel the PPI. I was told that 30 days had elapsed and that nothing could be done now. First instalment of loan was debited to my account in October 2007. I went to LTSB again. The lending officer here informed me that the only way to cancel PPI was to take a new loan. I did that but incurred a loss as I had to pay early settlement charges for the old loan. My total loss on the entire transaction was one instalment paid for the old loan and settlement charges paid to close the same. I have been reading threads on this forum. Would appreciate if someone could advice me whether I can place a claim for the loss incurred on LTSB. I have all the papers and agreements. Many thanks in advance. Kind Regards

    Hello and welcome.;)

I think with your reasons, I would write to reclaim on them.

Do not worry about writing the amounts down though. Remember to write the account number.

    For more info here
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

You will find useful info and advice on the above link, and a checklist of mis selling reasons, also template letters to help you through this.

You do not have to use the templates though, but as a guide if you want to, and if any of the reasons in the checklist also accur to you then write them as well.

They have 8 weeks in full to respond.

Keep at them until they resolve in your favour, and until they issue you with the final decision - this final decision should enclose details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS), you can take your complaint to them if your not happy with the outcome.

I would use recorded delivery as well, this is your proof of posting.

Good luck and please keep us posted and ask for help when required.;)

"I was told that PPI comes as part of loans here".

If you were indeed explicitly told that, then this is grounds enough to go for it.

    Good luck ;-)

With never been told any different, I used to think it was all part of the loan as well.

I would like to say though, its only now I am getting on with the lloyds tsb loan ppi cases, ready to go, but in regards of my lloyds credit card ppi, the FOS resolved this one for me a few months ago.;)

I have the address here for the Lloyds tsb in regards of the loan ppi:

    Lloyds PPI
    Customer Care
    Lloyds TSB Insurance

  • Thank you di3004. I am writing to them today. Will keep the forum posted.

Also I had taken a credit card from them in 2007. After reading the forum, I have just realised that the PPI is optional in credit cards too. I do not have a copy of the application that I signed in the branch. Can I reclaim the PPI premiums paid on the card for the last 2 years without having a copy of the application form? Thank you for all the help again.

    Your very welcome.;)

Yes you can reclaim on credit card ppi as well, I just posted above about mine with the credit card, and the loans ins address for you, here below is the address for complaining on the credit card ppi, the one i used anyway:

    Lloyds Tsb Credit Card
    Account Services
    Sussex House,
    1-9 Gloucester Place
    Brighton
    BN1 4BE

To request a copy of your agreement, just write a simple letter to them, and enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment.
Ask they send you a copy of your agreement, (if you have statements for this, you will see the account number to write on the letter) and tell them you look forward to receiving this by 12 days.

    Post again by recorded delivery.

    Copy Statement Unit
    Lloyds TSB plc
    Swallow House
    10 Swallow Street
    Birmingham
    B1 2AL

Going back to your credit card, if you not got the agreement but do have the account number, that is fine, I would see if they send you the agreement back with their decision, this happened with mine if I remember correctly, so at this time you do not have to worry about requesting for the agreement yet, not unless you do not have the account number of your credit card, although this should be on your credit card as well if you still have this.;)

So basically continue to write to lloyds tsb about the credit card ppi, and just apply the account number details, hopefully the agreement will come back with the decision.;)
