I`ll Try to keep this brief
5 weeks ago my gfx card in my m1730 laptop failed i have nbd warranty and the engineer never showed up CS said there was a shortage of replacement cards after many emails the escalation department promised me my laptop would be repaired this week or i would get an exchange of equal or better spec.
The said repair failed to materialise so a replacement was placed on order when i recieved the spec of the replacement it was of much lower spec due to the inferior gfx card. The cs team said they would replace the card in my replacement laptop when it becomes available . So as you see im back to square one . So i cancelled the replacement and asked my original repair to be reinstated.
After a firm phonecall to the cs department who were downright rude the manager told me i had 2 options .

1. wait a further 2 months for my card to be replaced .
2. Accept the lower spec machine and wait for the new card.

They did offer me a refund but its not an option as i bought this on promotion and the cost wouldn't cover the price of a same spec laptop.

Can they do this? It would be over 3 months to get my computer repaired to its original state.
thanks darren.

    Yes they can do this.

Dell have offered you everyone of the SOGA options and you have to accept one of them. Its unfortunate the replacement part is on back order but this doesnt mean you should benefit. Either wait or get your money back. Its all your are legally entitled too here and I would say Dell have been more than fair.

Your thread title is also libelous as Dell are meeting their warranty.

ok so i changed the title

so its ok to wait over 3 months for a next business day warranty repair?
i pay for a warranty shouldn`t my laptop be repaired in reasonable time.
As for backordered goods thats dells responsability to fix not mine.
also my laptop is 11 months old with 2 years warranty left am i entitled to a full refund ?
Also why would i benefit I was promised i would receive a system with the same spec or no less.?

While the timespan is a long time they did offer a refund - so while it seems all wrong they have done all they can - you have to choose the best for you in the circumstances.

so what happens to the replacement once the gfx card is in stock?
if its a loaner then fine but not if you get stuck with a lower spec machine IMO
