Faulty TV!

Hi All,
I am looking for some advice regarding my faulty tv! The tv is a 42 inch Samsung LCd tv which was purchased in November 2007 at a cost of £800.
The TV has very little use. Mainly used in the evenings. Last Sunday we noticed lines up and down the screen that were taking colour from the screen. At the bottom of the screen it had almost a bleeding effect. By monday 2 small black circles appeared that are just getting bigger and bigger.
I have read up on the internet what i can and dscovered that that the tv will get worse and worse until it has no picture whatsoever.
I contacted samsung and they offered a master reset over the phone and if that does'nt work then i can contact their recommended repairer who will fix it. These prices are ridiculous and would cost me as much as the tv did.
I also contacted the online seller who said it was nothing to do with them as it was over a year old and out of the guarantee period.
I'm a single mum and saved the money to buy this. I did buy it on the credit card but only as you can't pay cash over the internet!! There is no way possible i can afford another so we are looking at using my daughters portable tv.
The problem is i am so annoyed that it has only lasted 22 months. I realise that nothing lasts forever but surely 22 months is not normal?
Any advice on what i can do would be much appreciated!

Hi Diesel,
You might find this helpful , The TV is still covered under the sale of goods act

The seller is responsible under the Sale of Goods Act, you should make th aware of their legal obligations.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
Tsk tsk..you wouldnt get that with a proper CRT.0

Isn't that true for 99% of televisions in the country?0 -
