Being harrassed by Paypal... Is this normal?!

I got a phonecall from paypal the yesterday, and hapily confirmed my email address, name and address. only then to be moaned at (this was 8.30am!) saying my balance was -£15 and i HAD to pay it IMMEDIATELY or they would have the baliffs at my door!!!
Thing is, i should have paid the £15, its from about a year ago on my old paypal account. Someone bought an item from me, claimed they hadnt got it, put in paypal claim. then wrote to me and said they had it, and all was fine. but they didnt close the claim and got their money back too. that was the end of me and ebay for a few months, as i was so fed up with all the hassle!
so later i opened a new account, forgot about the old one really, and now this is happening.
Fair enough i owe them £15 (unfairly), but theyve called me AGAIN today harrassing me, threatening with the baliffs!!
I will pay them as soon as i have the money... but is this normal practice for paypal??
Thanks

Ignore them or pay the £15. Thats your choice.0

No bailiffs without a court order.
Expect a few garish letters from DCAs though......0 -
Just pay them the £15 as soon as possible. I don't know much about the way paypal handles debts but if they start involving anyone else in trying to collect this debt then it will go up a lot from £15.
End of the day you owe Paypal £15. It may be unfair that you owe it them but thats life. You should really have paid the £15 as soon as you realised you owed it paypal not have a sulk and think they would forget about it.0 -
Paypal have been fined before for harrassment, but a couple of phone calls is not enough to constitute harrassment and the rules are laid down somewhere about how many times a day they can call and between what times.
Just pay it, that £15 will soon roll up to much much more if real debt collectors get involved.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Oh and be warned, in a few months you may find your new paypal account gets suspended as you are only supposed to have one and even that one must not be connected to an associated account that has had issues.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Interesting. You should have changed your personal information (phone, address, etc) in the old account and then closed it. And then waited at least a year before opening a new account.
Yes, Paypal can be bast***s and they will resort to all sorts of dirty tricks. You just have to very cautious - and clever. In all fairness I would just pay the money as it's such a trivial sum.0
