Churchill car insurance claim

Just have to say what brilliant service I recived from the claims department when a lamp post lept out in front of my car!
Within 2 hours of making a claim by phone, the car was in the workshop I was given a rental car. 8 days later my repaired car was returned looking as good as new. The last time I had an insurance claim was 25years ago and Wow! hasn't it changed for the better, no forms, fantastic service. Churchill, you were the best price and you have provided the best service. ( Fully comp insurance £190 with protected no claim)

had a terrible experience with Churchill & now won't touch them with a barge pole - very slick front-end to take your payment but claims & legal side rubbish.
Had fully comp policy with legal. Car written off by police driver, who was charged & found guilty of reckless driving. A dozen officers from a neighbouring force happy to be withnesses for me - so claim appeared to be simple. Police had vehicle towed whilst I was sent to hospital - when I went to get my gear out of the wreck the yard guys were just putting it on a low-loader, when I asked why they said it had to go to 'Hitchen in Herts', when I asked why they said 'cos you live there, well nope I don't - about 200 miles away at a guess, never been there, never want to (no offence to any locals !). Rang insurance company, politely suggested they pull their finger out & sort out my details.Got vehicle unloaded, & waited for assessor & legal side to kick in. Waited 3 weeks - rang Churchill, asked why nothing from legal cover I had paid for - given solicitor's details, when I spoke to them they said they'd sent several letters but I hadn't replied - all to Hitchen, all dated after I'd told Churchill of their error. Asked for letters to be resent to correct address - received 1, then nothing else - rang solicitors for progress report - told had written to me - Hitchen again ! This went on for months - I'd contact Churchill & their appointed solicitors, get address corrected get 1 letter then nothing as address had been reset to Hitchen. Eventually got sick of it - spoke to my local solicitor to persue it separately and told Churchill & their solicitor that I had absolutely no confidence in their ability to persue even this simple claim. Local solicitor sorted matters quickly, personal injuries & uninsured loses paid within 12 months (which from previous experience is pretty good). So moral of this tale...I don't deal with Churchill - they could offer me a policy half the price of the next company but I'm not giving them a 2nd chance - next incident (heaven forfend) might actually be complicated then heaven help me if they couldn't even get an address correct...multiple times0 -
I car I own was written off by someone insured with Churchill. No fault on my named driver's behalf with 3 independent witnesses to vouch for her. The accident occured on 1/7/09 by 3/10/09 Churchill still had not assessed the damage to my car despite admitting liability. Today is 13/10 and I still have not received payment. Both cars were insured 3rd party so Accident Exchange supplied a hire car to me and Churchill will have to pay for over 3 months of hire as well as my claim. I would never use a company that is so careless with the way its money is spent. The delay apparently is due to a backlog of paperwork0

Round my renewal time some years back I asked for a quote from Churchill, and various other companies. I decided against Churchill as others offered cheaper compatible polices.
Anyway some time later I started to get letters from Churchill saying that it was illegal to drive an uninsured car. They went in the bin until I got one saying that they would report me to the "authorities" for not having insurance.
At no time was my car uninsured, so I wrote them a long nasty letter informing them of my intention to pursue them for harassment should I receive any more threatening letters. And that was the end of than. No apology - nothing.
A company that is that useless will not be getting my business.0
