Can I get my own card?

Hi

I currently have a Tesco credit card in my name on my husband's account. I am wanting to make a one off purchase and see that the Tesco Credit card gives 12 months 0% on purchases. Does anyone know if I will be able to apply for a Tesco credit card in my own name and receive this 12 months interest free?

Many thanks
Jan

You can certainly apply for it but no one will be able to tell if you will be able to get it.

Lots of factors to consider, credit worthiness, wage, time in job/property other cards loans, any defaults etc.

You will just have to apply and see what happens, checking your credit report beforehand may give you alittle insight though :)

    Thanks BigDave

What I meant was do you think I am likely to be classed as already having a Tesco card even though the account is not in may name - I'm just an additional cardholder. I appreciate that there are no guarantees that I'll be accepted.

    Thanks for the advice though.

As you are only an additional card holder I don't think it would make a difference as the main card holder is responsible for the whole account. I'm sure someone can confirm this for you shortly.

You can also get the additional one cancelled before applying if needs be if it did make any difference.

No, you'll be treated as a brand new customer ;)

Thanks very much Moggles. That's great. I don't want to get my additional card from my husband's account cancelled as it's my main card (and I don't pay it ;) ) but I just wanted to get my own for a one of interest-free purchase and then cut it up.

If you get the new one in your name then you may as well keep it for any future 0% deals they may want to offer you :)

I know what you mean about keeping the additional card holder one though if hubby paying it, my wife has the same on all my cards, must change this arrangement I think... :rotfl:

It does have it's downsides. He can see exactly how much everything I buy costs. I guess I can live with it though as long as I don't have to pay ;)
