She should understand, and I'm sure she will be fine. But perhaps suggest to her that if she wants to do something big in future (for whatever reason), that she should try to give you more notice so that you can budget for it.

I don't understand 'big nights out' anymore though. I'm past the stage where I want to go and get plastered and much prefer having a meal with friends where I can have lengthy conversations about this, that and everything! Put the worlds to rights. Much more likely to remember that too!

I think I must be growing up! lol
