This is the Increase in the UK population:-

This is house building in the UK:-

This is small Island. Most of its cities are surrounded by Green Belt land on which noone can build. Fundamentally, there is a housing shortage, which is why house prices are rising in the middle of a recession imho.

You can blame who you like for high houses prices but it won't change the fundamentals.

"We live on an island" :rotfl: so do non-island countries gradually expand so they never run out of land?

Then you post a graph misleadingly starting from 55 million instead of 0, which shows that population increased 10% in the last 40 years - which in no way correlates to the price rises in that time - and claim this is hugely dramatic.

Then you also post a graph that shows housebuilding was faster while population was growing at a faster level, and then slowed down when population was increasing at a slower level, defeating your own argument.

Serious question for you now sir, are you an estate agent on a price ramping mission or are you just dumb?

My parents bought theirs for £6,000 about twenty five years ago and it's now worth about £165,000 mind they did pay rent for twenty years prior to this and in my humble opinion they deserve to own it. Good luck to those that did this. I can remember paying interest rates of 17 percent, it nearly crippled us but I am mf now so it was worth it thank god. It's all swings and roundabouts.

Trouble is no-one wants to live there:beer:

The house that was built on the backs of rate payers money? You chose to rent a house because it suited you and there was plenty avaiailable. Try renting a council house now.
