One suspects they just may vote yes and then realise that the prior promises (and current cash flowing in) will suddenly dry up/disappear - but it'll be too late by then.
    .
Especially sad as BBC report earlier seemed to be indicating the opinion of ''the man in the street'' is that they said no before because they didn't understand it and were concerned, but they will say yes this time as its been better explained and they understand it.

It's really interesting to read your opinions.

I voted this morning - it was very quiet. We've been bombarded with Lisbon for months by both sides so I wondered if people had just decided to ignore it all and not vote. I agree about the scaremongering and I don't feel it's been debated properly. I'm pro-Europe but didn't like the Treaty as it was. One worry for me was losing our veto. We're so small and I think Ireland and the UK as non-Schengen island nations have some issues not shared by mainland Europe so I'd have liked to keep that. I voted Yes as on balance, I think the treaty is a good thing even if it's not perfect. I don't think our economic recovery depends on it though despite what the Yes side would have us believe! According to the No side, if it goes through we'll all be paid €1.84/hr but not to worry, we may not have time to spend it as we'll be so busy off having abortions and fighting wars! :D
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

The BBC trotting out EU propaganda. Never.

I really do hope the Irish will give the EU a bloody nose. Just what part of the word 'No' do our self appointed lords and masters fail to understand?

Given that the EU auditors have refused to sign the Eurpoean Unions accounts for the last 10 years or so I find it amazing its still taken seriously.

If Ireland votes yes to the treaty then they will lose any respect as a country...They will be Brussels B i t ch es and seen as surfs to Brussels........Give it 6 months and all the funding theyve received will dry up............

Irelands' problems were created by the Irish government, they have themselves to blame.......

Do they have to keep voting until they give the right answer?
  • It looks that way doesn't it? Can't wait for the result although I know I'm going to be disappointed.

I really hope that if the Czechs can't delay it until the general election that Cameron will give us an in or out referendum. I was 4 in 1975 and would quite like a say.

Anyway, I hope they vote a resounding NO to stop that lizard Blair from even considering the EU presidency.

The prospect of Blair being the biggest impending disaster possible ... just couldn't contemplate anything worse for Europe.
