Halifax Regular Saver rate deadline

I know that there have been hints that Halifax was about to drop its 5% rate on the one-year Regular Saver before and it did not happen, but there are now large notices on the website stating that the 5% is only available for accounts opened and funded by 8 October. So if you want to secure the 5% rate you need to open the account with at least £25 in it by 8 October. If Halifax don't lower the rate or (unlikely as rate for the next year are slipping) even increase it there's nothing to stop you closing the account you've just opened and open another one at the new rate.

They do often say raes will end and then subsequently extend them but yes the end of this one does seem very prominently displayed at the moment:

I wonder what they are planning. Lloyds (now under the same ownership of course) have just cut theirs to 2% and it would be a bit deceitful to advertise it with a "get it now" message immediately before raising the rate so maybe it's going down again.
I am shopping around for a monthly saver - but I'm not wildly excited about 5% with no withdrawals allowed so I'm not sure even this is what I'm after right now. Maybe it'll be best to wait a few months before the right account crops up.0 -
its ashame if they are dropping the rates, i was hoping they would still have it at 5% when my current one matures on the 18th december! wonder what they will drop it too.
dont think i will continue funding it after the maturity if it is dropped too low, may just put the money in tesco saving account until something better comes along, especially as they have extended their bonus on my account till next novemberMFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -

I spoke to someone at Halifax the other day and he said they were withdrawing the product.
Though perhaps they are changing the T&Cs, and will relaunch a "new" regular saver with different T&Cs and possibly a new interest rate.I want to move to theory. Everything works in theory.0 -
Oooh, they are sneaky.
The new interest rate is: 5%.

Its not even a new one with the same interest rate its still the same old one.
Looks like they decided not to withdraw it on the 8th.0 -
