Hi Everyone, Hope you can help me. I'm seriously thinking of scrapping my old Saxo in for a new Hyundai I10. However I need to know when do I actually have to trade in my Saxo? Is it when the deal is made? Or when I actually receive the new car?
The reason I ask is my work involves a lot of travelling and If I have to trade my car in BEFORE I receive a the new car.... I'm basically going to be up Sh*t Creek without a paddle!
Also, my insurance is due in 10 days, my tax 30/11 and MOT Jan 2010 - so what do I do? Am I able to insure my old car for a couple of months then cancel without a fee? (or is that wishful thinking?). Will i recieve my new car BEFORE I have to MOT it? Because from last year I know its going to cost £300+ and thats not something I want to pay if its going to be scrapped, plus 6 months tax is £60-70ish... and again I dont want to pay that if I'm getting rid.
Sorry If I sound a bit thick when it comes to cars but I know absolutly NOTHING about cars / insurance etc. I've only been driving 3 years with the same ole car, and normally my b/f sorts stuff like this out for me - but no more :-(.
Anyway.... can someone please let me know what the best thing is to do?
Thanks for your help! Em

Is the i10 a new model? I remember seeing on the news 1000's of cars parked up but no one was buying them0 -
Hi,
You give them your car when you pick up your new one. Yes you can cancel your insurance policy the fee will be dependent on your insurance company but most people wouldn't do this they would just transfer the policy onto the new car - the garage will ask you for a cover note anyway so this is the easiest way.
You will have to MOT it if your new car isn't ready to collect so when you do the deal agree collection before Jan or a courtesy car while you wait if its delayed.
