Special delivery 9am

Someone has just bought this to my attention and I thought it worth posting here in case anyone uses special delivery 9am service. This does not apply to the standard special delivery.
Special delivery 9am only covers up to £50 for compensation levels unless you opt for the additional insurance options which are approx £1.50 dearer. The person who told me found out the hard way as they sent tickets worth £200+ at a cost of £10.85 when they should have asked, or been advised by Post office they needed to use the £12.35 service.

That's a bit strange, I've used it once and was never warned by the PO that the compensation for loss level was different.
I suppose it could be mainly targetted at businesses who need paperwork etc delivering by 9 rather than people who want to send valuable things.0
