Can anyone tell me what the proplem is with my pc and what to do. The blue screen keeps coming up, the last message was STOP: 0x000000C5(0x00000001,0x0000002,0x00000001,0x80545702)

STOP C5 usually means a corrupted hardware driver, and this article may give you some pointers as to where to look for the files(s) that may be problematical.
Have you installed any new hardware recently, or updated any drivers? If so, you might need to roll back the driver(s) and/or remove the new hardware, to see if the problem goes away.0 -
My husband tried a system restore and it was fine for a day or so then came back. Will read through site later to see if we can resolve, thanks0

At IBM we used to call this the 'Blue screen of death'. It's not good and once you see it, the pc is never the same. If you can replace the hard drive I would receommend it.
Whatever you do make sure you back up all your important data and cherished photos etc. Because it is devastating to lose these.0 -
Although it is often a herd drive on the way out, BSOD can occur for other reasons such as corrupt drivers, or failing hardware as John says. You're right mr_fishbulb and if it can be saved then of course you should do so. What is more important is the saving of data.0

The error that has been output is definitely driver related. First thing I would recommend is to boot into Safe Mode (by pressing F8) on start up and check the Event Viewer in Administrative Tools for anything marked Critical at about the same time of the screen appearing.
Secondly, your computer may have created a crash dump at the time in which case in the folder C:\Windows\Minidump you should have some files ending with .dmp. If you can email them over to me I can analyse them to see if there was any information recorded as to which driver may have caused the corruption.
If not, things will start to get more technical but as long as you can follow instructions it won't be too daunting.0 -
I have heard that the person from this site can also analyse your dumps, but I can't find the upload page - http://www.gillianmckeith.info/Secondly, your computer may have created a crash dump at the time in which case in the folder C:\Windows\Minidump you should have some files ending with .dmp.
