in Credit cards
Just spoke to Halifax and my payment on my credit card is due on Tuesday!! So much going on i've forgotten to make a payment, the lady from Halifax said if i make a cash payment over the counter I won't occur any additional charges as it will be back dated to the time I made the cash payment? Is this correct? So I won't occur any charges and a bad credit rating mark against my name
I'm going down there lunch time lol

Turn your statement over. What does it say about payment timescales for paying in branch? Mine says to allow 4 working days. Is yours the same?
Whether it works differently in practice I don't know as I have a direct debit set up. It doesn't matter how much is "going on" for me, the direct debit will ensure I'll never be late with a payment. Maybe you should set one up?
If you have a Halifax current account, and online access to both accounts, making a payment today will show on Monday but backdated to todays date.0 -
Hi there,
Statement is at home so can't check.
I've made a payment online payment aswell as I have both the Halifax One Credit card and Current account. Might make a cash payment aswell just to make sure, I don't really care about the additional charges i'm more worried about a mark on my credit rating!!
Cheers

I might be ok like you said YorkshireBoy
I've checked previous statements and on the 25/08 i made a payment of £10 to my Halifax credit card from my current account and it shows on my credit card statement as payment date made 25/08

Halifax (although not Bank of Scotland) will back date cash payments to the day they were paid in. If there are any mistakes you can normally sort it out by taking the stamped slip back to the bank and they can call credit cards to sort it out.0

No No No No no.... Halifax will not date payments back to the date the payment was made - it will be the date the payment appears on your account with them, and, as their systems up date overnight the very earliest a payment even in cash would show would be the next working day (and quite possibly the one after that) - 4 working days is the rule, but 2 working days is the usual actuality
What Yorkshireboy says is correct - look at the back of the statement - howver your next statement may show that you made the transaction of a certain date, but it was posted to your account on a different date (2 days later)
Even branches get it wrong - I have heard of them telling customers that if they pay in in cash before 4pm then the payment is allocated the same day - it is not (though you'd have a darned good case to gete the late fee paid back)
(Apologies for the rather blunt start to my reply by the way)0 -

I can't really comment on the Halifax card as I don't have one, but what you've been told does work for some cards which I have experience of using regularly i.e Lloyds,Mint, Amex where I've always paid ON the due date without late payment markers or late fees regardless of the time scales that may be shown on the statement.0
