Please help - Credit Reports

Hi

I'm sorry if I've posted in the wrong area but everyone seems to post about credit reports on this bit.

I decided to apply for my credit report through Experian tonight on the free trial and then cancel. I filled in all my details and then it said that they need to carry out further checks.

I'm now panicking as to why they need to do this. I have already thought about a few options but I'm not sure if I'm right.

1. I have recently changed over the electoral register and applied for a mortgage under a different address to my bank account. I put my bank account address details in so could this have triggered a problem?

2. My father ran up alot a debts and I wouldn't have put it past him to use my details to apply for credit and then default etc.

Any advice would be appreciated as I can't question experian until 9am.

Thanks

What do you mean "apply"? I think they'll happy sell you information you should already know ifyou had a pen and paper handy. You aught not to give these parasite companies your private info and certainly not your money (although you say it's "free").

I'd not bother contacting them either unless you think they are the police or something.

If you are waiting to hear about a mortgage then wait.
