topup prepaid c card with a normal c card

Hi

I was wondering if it is possible to topup a prepaid credit card with normal credit card from another lender.

E.g could i use my normal credit card to topup my sons prepaid credit card so that he has money available on the prepaid credit card and the amount i top up by goes onto my normal credit card which i would pay off

many thanks

chris

  • Somebody will correct me if I am wrong (I'm not 100% sure) but I **think** that if you use your CC to top up a pre-paid CC then your CC company will charge you the "cash" interest rate, so unless you pay it off you'll get really high interest charges.

Thanks for the reply hadn't thought about that. I wonder if I could make a payment to my c card say 3 days before so that when I top up the prepaid c card the money is already in my c card account taking my balance to zero and thus not incurring interest ?

    Thanks

Even if you put your card into credit you will probably still be charged the cash advance fee so you'd have to make sure that you paid enough in. Also some credit cards may advise you that you are in breach of your term and conditions by taking the card into credit and it may flag up as money laundering.

I would have thought it would go through either as a cash advance, or balance transfer? Whichever was the most expensive?
