"Illegal" copy

Basically, the way I see it is that provided you haven't ever installed Office on it yourself, then Dell have hashed up.
If you didn't order Office as part of the bundle, then it shouldn't even be there. (unless it is part of a trial version) If you did order Office, then you should be able to use it without it saying it is illegal.
So best option is to chase up Dell and see what they've done.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
Thanks - great suggestions, as ever. If I get no joy with any of the above then I guess it's time to upgrade!0

Know any students or have any kids at school? That will be the cheapest legal-ish way to get Office.
As others have said, enter your service tag on Dell website to see if you should have Office to start with.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Thanks ... I've a son, so perhaps I'll look into the student version. Can't see this on Microsoft page, although plenty of info' on third party sites. However, it doesn't seem to come with Outlook - will keep looking.
Thanks again EVERYONE!0 -
Or alternatively use Open Office as a replacement for MS Office and Thunderbird to replace Outlook, and what the hell go all the way an replace that cr4ppy IE with Firefox. A two fingered salute to Bill Gates.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

Home and Student doesn't come with Outlook, because Outlook is primarily for use in a corporate environment and the feature set is far in excess of what a home user would require.
What about Outlook do you specifically use, because for home users there's [ur=http://download.live.com/wlmail]Windows Live Mail[/url] which has in addition to managing email accounts a calender function.0 -

From your wording, and the results I got from searching on your terminology, I'd guess the WGA notifications you're getting are justified.Yes, I keep getting it with my Enterprise Blue edition that I obtained. Bad times. The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.

Also the WAG (Windows Genuine Advantage) is known to throw out "false negitives" when it comes to validating OS's and Office apps!
You can usually contact Microsoft (if it's a legit copy!!) and tell them that the WGA is wrong. They should then issue you with a new Serial Key to use to stop the message!
But if it's not a legit copy......
try changing to "Open Office" ^_~ lolLaters
