Part time work.....

sorry folks.....i meant to type £5:83.....see...thats how stressed i am about it all.....

as it stands for 16hrs i will walk away with about £98 odds.....before any tax....
and as far as my mate is concerned....as i am getting my rent and council tax paid by the council for me....because a standard giro is £64;30 and i earn more than that i will have to pay some of my rent and council tax now..... which keeps me only actualy having roughly £64:30 to live off anyway....
which makes me wonder if i should even bother.....why go and work for the same amount of money i was entitled to in the first place???....
in my last job i was only doing 30hrs...so could claim working tax credits as a single guy but as this job is only 16hrs i dont qualify for them my mate said...is this true??
aparently it has something to do with the govt. not wanting to pay out too much to bring me up to an average weekly wage...0 -
the strongest argument for it is that if you're in a part-time job you may be in a stronger position if any additional hours become available, you can carry on looking for another part-time job to go alongside it, or a different full-time job, and it's generally easier to find work while you're in work.iceman197258 wrote: »which makes me wonder if i should even bother.....why go and work for the same amount of money i was entitled to in the first place???....Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Because the welfare system is designed for people who can't find work - not those who decide not to.0 -

i sense a little animosity here....hehe....it was just a passing comment about how pssssst off i am with the whole situation and the way these people in the job centres treat you...
i'm 37 and have worked since i left school....i understand there people who cant work and also those who cannot find work....but i cant help being a bit annoyed at the fact that there are a certain amount of workshy layabouts who have and never will work and we all fund them....i just sometimes feel as if i should get a break.....nothing wrong in that is there???0 -
hi all,
does anyone know what happens if you are signing on for jobseekers allowance but find some work very few hours I have found a job that's a few hours a week. It's cleaning a football stadium after matches etc so i'm guessing a few hours every 2 weeks! will I still be able to claim JSA? if not there is no point in going to the interview
thanks0
