How old are you, i think the tax credits bumps up the wage but as to how much depends on last tax year or the current 1 but which 1 im not sure, someone else will be along soon to give more definite answers0

im not sure if tax credits will apply if its a seasonal job, i could be wrong0 -
I've just finished reading the WTC guidance, it says you can claim during a seasonal job (but obviously not after). If you work during school terms you can claim as if it was continuous, I think.
But you would be best off phoning HMRC, they're paid to know for sure.0 -
Assuming you have savings of less than £16,000 you might still be able to get CTB and HB but its entirely dependent on your circumstancesThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

less than £16,000?........lmao...i've got less than £16....
single guy, 37yrs, live alone in a 2bedroom council flat....and as far as i know i get a slight discount for single occupancy on my council tax already...even in full time work...
i live in scotland if that makes any difference to things???
aparently i still need to pay about £20/month towards my water rates which is not included in my council tax....
i havent been unemployed since i was 19yrs old but back then i lived with my parents and didnt need to know all this stuff....so i just need to know if there is anything i should be claiming or asking for as i know from recent experience that the various council depts and jobcentre people dont exactly offer this info as they should...
like i said already folks......
any help is appreciated...0 -

Over 25 and single - as far as I am aware no tax credits because you need to work minimum of 30 hours per week and you are working only 16.
CTax and HB you very likely will be entitled to PART of your rent and council tax paid as I highly doubt your income will cover the cost of your rent and ctax and still leave you with enough money the government thinks you can afford to live off (64.30)
all things taken into account I think you will likely only be allowed to keep 5 pounds per week more money than you have previously been getting on JSA. this is because there is an income disregard that they let you keep if you are working.
Id also make sure that you check you are earning enough in order to receive contribution credits towards your state pension. this means you have to make at least enough of the Lower Earnings Limit set for this year. Otherwise you may be in a situation of feeling the need to make voluntary contributions in order to preserve your state pension future entitlement.
Thats all from the top of my head I can think of to start you off.0 -
Have you put your info through the entitledto website? Might give you an idea0
