Advice on insuring a Lotus Elise?

I'm about to buy a used Lotus Elise S2 and would really appreciate any advice anybody could give me on insuring it.
I have several issues:
The car is in insurance group 20.
I will just have turned 24 when I get the car.
I only have 1 year's worth of no claims bonus built up.
I have put all the details into Confused.com and the cheapest quote it returned was £1400.
Are there companies I should avoid when insuring a car like this. Am I better off going with some kind of specialist sports car insurance? Does anybody have any experience insuring a car like this?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Cheers,
Dave

Try Adrian Flux or Bell insurance, even elephant might give you a decent quote.
There are other things you could also look at:
1. Do the pass plus course
2. Fit a tracker to the car
3. Ensure it has a Thatcham Cat 1 immobiliser
4. Keep it in a garage overnight
5. Keep your mileage as low as possible
6. Buy a MICRA!! (sorry)

If all that fails to get you a good quote, try going through a broker and see if they can help in any way.
Although, after all that, I'm guessing that around £1000-£1200 would be about normal for your age and the car.

Oh - just another thing, I'm not sure if Lotus offer this, but I was offered pro driving tuition when I got my car and that reduce my premium, only by £40 but it's better in my pocket! And the day out was paid for by the manufacturer of the car!Treat others as you would like to be treated :A0

if youre not using it as a daily driver then you could get a restricted mileage policy...otherwise I'd second the elephant reccomendation. alternatively try and see if there is an owners club - specialist insurers will often have arrangements with them for discounts, and at the very least you get to talk to someone who may be able to help (ie a broker, rather than a direct insurer). Good luck!if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.0
