MSE News: Ryanair booking fees soar today
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/travel/2009/10/Ryanair-fees-up-today
I have commented on the discussion thread for the above story, but any constructive criticism tends to be deleted, so thought it best to post here also.
Will MSE ever be able to write an 'editorial' on Ryanair without being sensationalist and completely biased?
The 'news story' bleats on about the price rises, but gives only one line to the fact that you can potentially fly with Ryanair for 1p.
A balanced article would give much more credibility to MSE as a source of financial/ moneysaving news.

On the same subject of MSE Official News articles, there is anothere, albiet, small problem, in that the MSE Official has been posting items dated before the release. Take this one as an example:
MSE News: Nationwide says house prices at 2008 levels
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1956451
Posted by MSE Natasha on the 18th September. Well that's odd Nationwide didn't release the Press release until yesterday 2nd October!
I've noticed this with several other news items. Either MSE Natasha has got a bloody good Crystal Ball, or there is some kind of system error
I really don't like the MSE News items, they're sloppy journalism and I feel it devalues the site. Just my opinion.0 -

Very sorry Mr O'Learly, won't do it again. Ryanair is the BEST airline in the world, bar none - honest !
PS;
(any chance of some free tickets ?)0 -
Ryanair are like Tesco, very successful and good at what they do, but attract abuse from bitter people who still use their services anyway.0

Hi,
The system allows us to insert posts on top of existing threads (thanking the original poster) so that visitors to the site who aren't regular forummers can see the link back to the news story as well as the discussionFormer MSE team member0 -

We're always sorry that we can't please everyone. However, I think in this case we would have been hard pushed to balance the story much more. The third paragraph is clearly all about the fact that the charges can be avoided, and links readers to our full guide of how to do it.
Plus, we've put info about Ryanair's cheap sales in the weekly email every week of the summer (and still going) again with link to how to make sure you get it cheaply.
We obviously would love everyone to like the news service, but we start a discussion on every one to allow comments, and I am surprised you feel criticism is deleted as that is not the policy of this site or the moderators at all. Rudeness and off-topic posts are deleted, but critiicism in news story discussions is read by us and left on the thread.. This point of view was also posted in there directly and not deleted, so i am a little confused as to why it is duplicated here
