Any suggestions for student accomodation insurance?

Hi,
My son is going back into the second year very shortly and needs insurance for his shared accomodation. Usual things like laptop, tv etc. He is not covered under my own house insurance. I have been quoted approx £95 from barclays so far and am still looking - does anyone have any suggestions where to go?
Thanks
Denise

Hi, have never used them myself as i live at home for uni, but in my welcome pack during enrolment there was a letter from Endsleigh offering policies for students, maybe get a quote off them and see how it compares?0

Thank you, I have just tried for a quote from them but they are quite expensive, seem to have the monopoly on student insurance, am still looking!0

When is your house insurance up for renewal? Depending on what your plans are, it could be worth taking out a more expensive policy elsewhere, but one that covers your son.
My policy covers all my daughters belongings at Uni both in her accommodation and while at the bus stop, at Uni etc. I phoned to double check and we're covered even if she drops her lap top in the street and breaks it. It also covers her (and our) mobile phone and gives the whole family world wide travel insurance etc.
Cant remember the figures off the top of my head, but she's covered for something like £8k in her accommodation and £4k while out of it.
OK it's not the cheapest but to cover my daughter or wife's mobile phones alone would cost around £7 each per month, and that doesn't give them as much cover as our home policy does.Martin Lewis is always giving us advice on how to force companies to do things.
How about giving us advice on how to remove ourselves from any part of MoneySupermarket.com

Thank you, I have contacted my insurers and looked everywhere but seems will have to go with barclays as the best option.0

My accom provider provided some cover with my rent which covered theft in flat and obvious etc etc. I paid I beleive £70 for the extended cover, which covers myself against accidental damage, laptop theft in and out of flat, non electricals in and out of flat. My insurance came from Endsleigh.0

Have you tried cover4students I have found them resonable and they include walk in theft and XS is only £10;)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I went with Endsleigh all three years I was at uni - one year because it came free with the rent on my house - as they always came out cheapest for me. Never had any trouble with them and on the one occasion I did need them to pay out it all went through fine."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0
