How do I get my compost hot? Is that just the heat from rotting? You need a large volume - the composting process releases heat; a large volume will keep it in. I've got one one those big black plastic ones and a metal one with a funnel type lid. The one with the funnel - does it have holes in the sides, low down? If so, it's an incinerator, for burning garden waste. No reason why you shouldn't use it as a composter, but it may tend to rust, in contact with damp compost.
What are mare's tail and ground elder ? They sound like hardcore bad weeds! Yep, they're bad fellas  Mares tail:Ground elder:

Hi Folks, I know rhubarb leaves are poisonous, but can they be put into the compost bin please?0
-
yep, add away!0

Accept that the leaves are only poisonous due to what they have taken from the soil, if so then shouldn't we be happy trying to replace some to the soil?0

Just a quick question, will it be ok to put glossy paper on the compost? Like shredded junkmail and thermal receipts?0
