This post reminded me of my own lack of compost bin - currently I live with my parents who always used to compost but have been lacking since the move three years ago. Bought and on way!

Just to inject a non-electrical note, can anyone tell me where to get a good value garden composter?

Is any outlet recognised as having the best deal at the moment?

I'm determined to do a bit more recycling and this might also allow me NOT to have to hire a £20/year 'green waste bin' from the council... so there's the money-saving angle!!

Great. Thanks for the link. Through it I've discovered my local council is offering two different size bins for £6 and £10. Seems like an absolute bargain.

Same here, I ordered 2 of the middle size ones and they are great, although we had to weight it down to start with as it blew away until we had started to fill it

Sometimes the offer is run through your local water company, so it might be worth checking their website out as well, if Bristol council does not provide these cheaper bins.
