ipod doesn't work .... can anyone help ?

managed to set up new ipod via computer and downloaded couple of hundred tunes .
Everything works fine ..... till today ....

when all tunes have completely disapearred off the ipod .
hooked it all back up to the computer ... it goes through its "update routine" and says new download complete ok ... but still nothing there.

Looked at the troubleshooting guide .. refers to this subject but just says check everything connected ok.

Also saw a click on their website about updating software so we did that ... took 3 hours on dialup ... no differrence.

Don't know how to rectify ?

Any ideas

thanks,

  • Myself and my sister both own iPods and have experienced the same problem.

I *think* the problem might arise if you plug your iPod into another computer or someone else plugs their iPod into yours - it confuses the iPod, iTunes, or both so they don't work as before.

The only solution I have found is to format the iPod and reload your music.

I don't know if iTunes has a format option because I use Winamp with an iPod plugin which is much better IMHO.

If you don't get any joy with iTunes, I'd seriously recommend switching to Winamp with the iPod plugin. You'll be able to format your iPod, reload your music and never need to worry about different iPods plugging into your machine or you plugging your iPod into another computer.

I wish I'd stuck with my minidisc TBH. The iPod looks great but the internal software leaves a lot to be desired and don't even get me started on iTunes >:(
