Help please

Hi all not sure where to post this but I need some help! I have been trying to get a credit card to up my credit rating but I can't get one anywhere! How am I meant to up my credit rating when everywhere declines me? I have no debt to my name I have a next account and a contract phone and that is it, so why will no one help me? I have checked my experian credit report for all the good it did! I want to get a mortgage too but no where will accept me as I have a crap credit rating apparantly :S Income is over £30000 a year and I have never missed a single payment. Help me please???

    It could be that having no previous credit and the current economic climate with banks not wanting to lend sees you getting the rough end of the deal and various declinitures.

    There are some low limit high APR cards that are available to boost your credit worthiness so as long as paid in full every month you incur no costs and build up a credit portfolio so to speak.

    I am sure other posters will advise on these cards or better ideas soon enough :)

    Do not go for cards that offer 0% deals - these are usually reserved for people with "good history". Instead, go cards for eg. Capital One, Vanquis which are targeted to those with "poor" credit and have high interest rates. A card with small credit limit and high interest is the one that you should aim for.The interest rates are not really of concern if you pay off the balance in full every month.
