My advise ,check check AND CHECK AGAIN ,their reading details !!!!

I just received my finial bill form N-power ,thought it was a mistake but they wouldn't have it !!
Turns out they based my final reading on my telephone number that I gave then when I rang to give the readings:mad: regardless of the fact ,there were too many numbers ...they just picked out the number in the phone number that fitted and ignored the rest!!!
Revised bill is £200 less !!
Thank god the MIL noticed the reading was almost our phone number ,then we realised what had happened but n-power had me almost convinced enough to pay!!!!!

are final reads not provided by the supplier you move to as they are agreed between the two I believe?

The reads thats are agreed have to be within 250 units of each other.. This is industry standards.

Final read was provided by me as i moved house
As i said i rang to give them the final read for gas and leccy and my new phone number and to give them the start reading at the new house .
I knew a mistake had been made but they almost had me believing i owed it and i nearly paid ,thank god for the mother-in-law(never though I would say that !!)

Left N power years ago for similar problems. Mupppets.

Am with British now, maybe not the cheapest but never had any problems with them.

We too have had loads of problems with N power, switched with them 2 years ago and our bills have soared! I need to phone them actually and argue with them again! about our 'so called capped' price till 11 yet our last bill talked about a price change and the if you pay by DD you save x amount, also if you pay 12 months DD you get £100 Back and if there were not cheaper than powergen! wish me luck!! I will def be switching when we are clear of debt!

Hi everyone, thanks for the tips and pointers, I will speak to my management company and ask for access to the meter for at least the weekend so I can regulary check the movements.
I do feel something is wrong, my mum lives in a 4 bed council flat with 3 adult & 3 kids, they always have a tv+ (in 6 roooms) computer, lights washing machine going daily, and she was horrified at my bill.
I feel the only way out of this is to move out of my little flat..it will be a shame, because it is so perfect for me. I just cannot afford to be paying nearly £200 per month on utilities. I have lived on my own on and off for the last 15 years and never experienced anything like this. My last electric bills (about 5 years ago and via a meter key) was about £30 per month!!

    Thanks

    Susanna
