Worth checking if your home insurance would cover you for accidental damage. Save yourself the £150 and get a nice coffee table.
I got a sofa from dfs and I love it. The payments do seem to be going on a long time but four years is a long time I guess !
One other thing, I didn't take out ppi but they sneakely added it in and are charging me an extra £7 a month for it. I am about to question them about this but just look out for it.0 -
Just a general comment,if your outgoings are considerably less each month, why not save up and buy it outright.Unless your in very secure jobs theres always a risk of losing your jobs and if it happend that would be one expense you wouldnt have to worry about.
Also Given the threads about DFS sofas and the general view of poor quality you,ll probably need another new one as soon as you finish paying for the current one........
Personal view but as a nation we need to get out of this "want now pay later" thinking......0 -
I gave up buying expensive suites
there crap quality and wont last, now we buy cheap ones and bin them every 18-24 months
saves us a fortune
don't both with the scotch guard, profit making item for them0 -
Hi, I got a sofa from DFS last year and got the scotch guard as I also have a 2 year old. I have never had any problems with DFS or the sofas, a few things have been spilt but managed to get most of them off ourself, I did call them as my son was sick all over my foot stool and it left a horrible stain, they came and sorted it out without any problems, although I did have to wait a few weeks! I'm really happy with my purchase as I couldn't afford to buy one outright and this way I have managable repayments. Hope this has been helpful0

I got my couch - 4 seater and a large chair - from DFS and I have nothing bad to say about them. I did take the £150 cleaning thing as at the end of the day, if you are spending a couple of grand on a couch then what's £150 for peace of mind.
My last couches came from Argos and they faded very quickly, sagged terribly and towards the end looked liked something I had picked up in a skip. Poor quality
I will defo go to DFS again. I took the paying over 4 years as to oppose to 1 year free and then paying over 3 years.
Delivery men were courteous, no complaints even when it became clear they were going to have to dismantle it to get it in the living room door, made it up and took away all the plastic and stuff.
I was very happy with them and love my couch and it still looks brand new and I've almost had it 1 year (which wasn't the case with the Argos one)0 -
I bought a sofa from DFS nearly 2 years ago now and have had no problems with it so far - looked around lots of places and didn't see any others i liked the look of (though Argos may be cheaper I don't like the idea of buying a sofa I haven't been able to sit on and see if it's comfy - especially as it might not be possible or particularly easy to send it back because "i didn't like it").
End of the days it depends in part whether they do a style you like. All the main sofa companies do similar credit packages and most don't give much of a discount if any on the total cost.
It is as some say 4 years "free" credit, they'll get the money somewhere, but at the end of the day it suited me as having just bought a new house it was useful to not have to pay for it for a year and then pay a small manageable sum for the remaining 36 months - if you can save up to buy in full then good on you, but not everyone can, and i wasn't going to sit on a hard wayrock floor for 4 years while i saved up!
I also took out the scotchguard type product, it may be a bit of an expense but knowing how clumsy i am, and the fact i have friends with kids,a nd have pets, it was worth it for me as so far there's been no stains, but if something does stain it, they come out and will professionally clean or replace it as part of the gaurantee (which i think was for 10 yrs?).
Only issue i had was when the sofa/footstool arrived a couple of parts were wrong on the order, however the delivery guys themselves noticed immediately it didn't match the orde rplaced and called up DFS themselves to sort it out for me. 2 years on the sofa still looks great, is exceptionall comfy (to the poin of being nicknamed the narcolepsy sofa as it have sleep inducing effects) and all my friends comment on how lovely it is. Only downside is needing to plump the feather cushions up once a week (might get polyfibre ones to replace the feather at some point).0
