you have to visit the chocolate shops .. watch them make chocolate and the tastes mmmmmmmmmmmm out of this world
Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
    Are thinking of you today.
  • I went to Bruges last November just as it was getting ready for Christmas, the shops and squares were really beautifully decorated. It was great to go off-season as it looked like it could get really busy in the summer.
We stayed in a family run hotel about a 20 minute walk from the town, it had the standard Travelodge style rooms but was very pleasant.
Looking at their site they are currently doing a winter special for 50 euros.

A cheapish cafe/bar we found was on the corner of Philipstockstraat and Vlamingstrat

    Hotel Cavalier
We stayed here last year, it was in fantastic location, about 3 minutes walk from the old market square. The rooms weren't amazing or anything, but for a cheap base for the weekend, right in the heart of the city, it was great. Breakfast was excellent & the owners were very helpful & friendly.
Main things to do in Bruges are:
Climb the steps to the top of the belfry tower
Go for a canal boat ride
Go for a horse drawn carriage ride around the city
Visit a brewery - I recommend the Straffe Hendrik
    Drink beer
    Eat chocolate!

There was a great bar a few doors down from the Cavalier hotel that sold about 300 types of beer & was definately the best value place to go for a drink. It seemed far cheaper than anywhere else.
