Well I am feeling slightly bemused. After a lot of discussion on the DFW Board about how I was turned down last week for the American Express Amex Card, in the post today I got quite a surprise. A letter each for OH and myself containing the pin numbers for our new American Express Platinum Card account. Had to run to the shredding box to find last week's letter to make sure I hadnt made a mistake, but no, it definitely says we've been unsuccessful in our application. Am now really torn between phoning them and asking what the f..... is going on or leaving it and just taking the cards no questions asked so as not to tempt fate. A 2% cashcard would come in very handy right now as my OH uses one for petrol and its paid off every month but he doesnt get anything back for it. Its odd, though. I cant understand it.

Take the card, use it, pay it in full, ask no questions and take the cash back!Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

Wouldnt run a big debt up on it though - as they may withdraw the card when they realise their mistake and immediately recall the total debt.0

This can happen - although not experienced it with amex myself.
Its a case of some computer automating the letters that get sent out.
Chances are you will be okay.
Occasionally, they do just change their mind if criteria for new applicants are re-reviewed by a human and voila - a new product winging its way to you!0 -
We got the cards today with a credit limit of £11,000! However, this card is purely for our day to day spending so that at the end of the year we can get something back. Every penny we spend on it, the equivalent amount will be paid into a savings account and at the end of the month the savings will be withdrawn and i'll pay it off.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
