Printer not working properly

Hi,

Wondered if anyone knew about printers not working properly and be able to advise on what to do:

It is an Epson R300 and there is power to it and everything at the printer end seems to be working - the display and correct lights are all on. On the computer we can see how much ink etc is in the cartridges but when we ask to print something it wont! It just brings up the normal box but instead of saying printing or queuing to print it just says processing and goes no further - doesnt bring up the next box that says its printing and how long it will take!

I have the same printer but not had problems like this.

The best thing would probably be to uninstall it and then reinstall it. If you don't know how to do this then reply back to this thread and I will monitor for reply.

Thanks for that I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the printer but it hasnt made a difference - although it is now saying that it has printed when it hasnt! The computer can tell how much ink there is in the printer and also when it is switched on when I am trying to print!

What operating system? From you other posting, I'm guessing 98se?
Anyway, when the window pops up to say it's processing, have you tried investigating the menus in that window. Printer/document/view/help? Some silly things, like checking its not paused, or try restarting the print job, or purging, rebooting and trying again? That's one idea. I assume the printer drivers work with 98? (if that's what you've got)? It might be worth doing a search on the web to make sure? This link might help:

As the previous poster said, lots of ppl here to help, just give as much info as you can. My sister has the same printer, and has had no probs with it so far, so I'll be interested to here how this problem develops.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes the operating system is Windows 98se. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it. I have also looked at the menus as you say and it still doesnt do anything or say anything out of the ordinary - its as though the printer and computer just arent communicating, or if they are its one way communication!

Ive also tried the epson website and trouble shooted it all. Have asked someone to come out to the computer who has been to it before and while he is here can give the computer a service

Hi,

The computer man has been out today and got it working again - he didnt know why it had stopped working but the settings also didnt show it as going into the USB port of the computer. All fine now - its amazing how much we use it - you only realise when it isnt there!
