As a first stage in my trying to boycott British companies which don't support their own economy by employing British workers, I'd love to see a list of companies which use Indian call centres, so please somebody post this list or a web link if you've got one. I'd post a new thread on here getting people to list them if I knew best in which section to put it. The problem here is that this foreign call centre issue runs across numerous aspects of our lives - telephones, financial institutions, utilities, travel companies., techie help lines ..... the list is endless

Perhaps this is one for Martin and his team to pick up and start a new thread somewhere in his weekly newsletter? With a rapidly rising unemployment total here, we need these British jobs back. (And yes, if necessary I would be prepared to pay just a little more in service charges if this was what it meant.)
  • I felt I should give an update regarding this. I rung up the call centre today after I got a phonecall from an Indian woman from MoreThan questioning my car registration number. It turns out that not only did they change the excess, but they also changed the registration of the car and the annual mileage I will be doing! :wall:

So I rung them up, got the Indian call centre again and asked to be put through to the UK call centre. Got through to a friendly ENGLISH guy who could understand me, and we managed to put the policy right in just a few minutes. Unbelievable! He changed the excess to what it should have been, changed the mileage and reconfirmed the car registration details. No charge to be made and the new documents are in the post!

    Alleyluyah!!! :T  :j

I now have his direct contact details, as well as another lady who has now been designated my official point of contact in MoreThan. I just wish I had signed up for it sooner!

sounds like UK based call centres would:

    be more efficient
    have a lower error rate
be a better service for customers

daft thing is, that in your case, not only have they not saved money by using a foreign call centre, but youve probably now not got such a good view of them as you had before.
