Getting to Wembley!

I've got to attend an event at Wembley stadium next Wednesday and am looking for the most cost effective way of getting there.

I'm travelling from the north east, so will be driving down - but I've been warned that parking at the stadium costs £18

So, I'm looking at leaving my car somewhere and travelling to the stadium by tube/train/bus. Can anybody suggest the best way of doing this? Ie. Where's best/cheapest to leave the car for the day? And how am I best getting from there to Wembley?

Thanks in advance!! :D

There are unofficial places to park around the stadium that are cheaper. Or park at Harrow and Wealdstone Train and then get a tube 4 stops

Not far off the A1 is Stanmore Tube station, top of Jubille line. Park at station car park, or side road, and jump on tube, all of 4 stops

    Agree with Stanmore
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

I agree that Stanmore tube station is probably the best tube station car park for you. £3.20 to park there and under 10 mins on the tube from there to Wembley Park. Also saves being stuck in traffic getting out of Wembley after an event.

I'd also warn that as well as the charges being a joke, the parking itself is a joke - took us 2.5 hours to start moving from our space when we went a couple of months back. Absolute gridlock. Believe it or not, we did it to save money as we had a carfull and parking was only £10 that day for some reason, but will never bother driving there again.

We often go to Wembley Stadium/Arena for events, football and concerts

The official car park is about £15-£20 (depending on the event)
and it can takes ages to get out of too

What we do is drive up there (we only live in south london) and park in one of the many industrial estates there, on the west side of the stadium.
YES, they will charge, normally £5-10 (again depending on event)
Drive around the block first, don`t just go in the first one, cos their prices can differ as they are all private parking areas

We`ve never had a problem there

DON`T just park up on a `quiet looking` bit of rough ground, believe me there`s loads of it there, but believe me paying to get your car back after it`s been towed away is very expensive

    good luck :T

I went to see Take That in July and parked in Ikea carpark. Plenty of others did this as well.

Totally free, about a mile walk but well lit, and also don't hit nearly so much traffic coming out as you do if you park either at the stadium or one of the private car parks near it.

hmmm..... I`d be very careful of that... besides the ikea is over a mile away

I live right next to the stadium and arena but unfortunately dont have a visitors permit for event days. I would be very careful with some of the car parks near the stadium as they are not all legit and have heard of cars towed away. The nearest place to park would be Church Lane Kingsbury where the parking restriction ends and then get the 83 bus to stadium. There is a pub there called the george between wood lane and church lane. Bus comes every 10 mins or so and is about 2 miles from stadium.

My brother in Law was over from Canada and does not like using public transport, booked a space at the Green Man Pub in Wembley for his car, as it is quite near the Stadium when England played this month. Don't know the cost and also know you had to be and England fan as they did not want different supporters clashing I was told. I googled and found the tel no is 0208 903 1441.
