Should I call for a deal?

in Credit cards
I have £7,500 on my egg credit card, and I have been living out of the country for the last 2 years so my credit rating is virtually non existant (i guess) so I reckon I won't be able to get a balance transfer card as I have only been at my current address for 2 months and all the applications ask for a second uk address.
Is it worth ringing egg and pretending I am about to transfer to a new card and asking can they do a deal for me? I have been with them for about 4 years, and have always registered a UK address with them even when away.
Thanks for your help.
